Paperwork!

Less than a week to go!!!

One thing no one can avoid... paperwork! In this case, hang tags and descriptive tags for each one of the critters as they pack their bags for Philly! Time consuming but necessary.

Then Mom and I punched a lot of batty shaped holes to create this attractive handout! Trying to make something memorable to give to our first 100 interested collectors, we made these sets which include an Online Hallowe'en Artists' Studio Tour bookmark, a Bat Conservation International circular sticker and a postcard featuring a number of my critters, all tied together with cool sparkling blue yarn, the same color as our table covering. I think it will be a hit!

Happy Earth Day!

It was too cold to do anything fun outside like plant, so we enjoyed a day of cleaning, cooking, taking care of each other and having a long walk in the afternoon sun (just before the rain started!). Mom sorted through all the things in the garage that need to go to the hazardous waste depot and I dusted, vacuumed and tidied up the studio, both long overdue tasks. Willow supervised. Crepe with cream and pecans in maple syrup was dessert for lunch... boy, we needed that walk! All in all, a beautiful day to be on this Earth and so the following is my new motto:

"Live each day as if tomorrow will be a zombie apocalypse."

sore fingers, heavy heart

Okay, so I'm into the boring part of critter creation: cut, trim, whip stitch, run 'em through the sewing machine, pick seams, etc... Then it will be fun again. Perhaps doing three critters at once was a bad idea, it's hard on the hands!

In the meantime, do you like this faery portal? Would you like to see more? Than visit Sally J. Smith's website http://www.greenspiritarts.com/ and check out her Kickstarter project! Care to give her a hand?

And I have sad news: White Nose Syndrome has spread into Indiana and North Carolina! So their bats are now struggling to make it through the winter alive too... So sad, please inform yourself by reading the news at http://www.batcon.org/ !
