Happy Holidays everyone, however you choose to celebrate the darkest time of the year!  

We received an early gift on December 19th, this great article by travel writer George Bailey that appeared in the Niagara Falls Review.  George and his wife Ellen had enjoyed our Bed and Breakfast once before (October 2014) and George was very kind to include us in his write-up!  Wow!  The Flying Leap is in print!

Elora in the papers

This is on the sidewalk outside the Neob Niagara Lavender Boutique and Soap Factory on Metcalfe Street.  You can't miss it, just follow your nose and relax into the sweet, gentle scents drifting out of this shop!

Getting the word out

Our Flying Leap is proud to be included in two FEBBA advertisements!  Take a look at the image below! 

It's quite a boon to have our house's pretty photograph included in what can easily be called the most elegant piece of advertising put out by Elora & Fergus Tourism, "Grand & Gorgeous".  And also take a look at the Elora Festival folded pamphlet, we're right there on the bottom left of the first spread.  Both advertisements are for FEBBA, the Fergus Elora Bed and Breakfast Association, and, as a "new kid on the block" it's very welcoming to be given a spot in the ad.    
  A big round of applause goes to Garrett Klassen of Crunch! Inc. Communications for creating the ads and being the front-man for FEBBA.   
  So, what are you waiting for?  Come visit Elora and stay a night or two!

Maureen Argon wrote a very complimentary article about the soft sculpture making process and Ann Baggley took some awesome photos, the whole thing turned out just perfect! 

 

In the photos that's Junebug the flying mouse and her babies, 2 mini hedgies and I'm holding Cere the Rat, and they are all just happier than you can imagine to have been included!

Getting colder?

Vacation photos shortly (there are only about 1400 and that's not including the 2000 or so my sister took!).  

In the meantime, while on the plane, I read "Warm Bodies" by Isaac Marion and was thoroughly impressed.  The author very effectively equates being apathetic to being like a zombie and his zombie apocalypse was created by a human world gone numb.  In his view, our society is slowing dying due to human indifference...  will we wake up in time?  I hope so...

Here's someone else's review, well said, "I believe this book is really reality-based as most Americans are zombies today. Yes, few Americans can comprehend any written material other than zombie books (and the infrequent paranormal romance, or magical-type books). Zombie is as zombie does, which accurately captures the "American spirit" or willful ignorance of today."  (quoted from here)

 

As far as indifference goes, I am absolutely NOT indifferent to this advertisement that apparently airs on Russian TV.  WOW!  If we got to see ads like this one, I might actually watch TV!
 

Paperwork!

Less than a week to go!!!

One thing no one can avoid... paperwork! In this case, hang tags and descriptive tags for each one of the critters as they pack their bags for Philly! Time consuming but necessary.


Then Mom and I punched a lot of batty shaped holes to create this attractive handout! Trying to make something memorable to give to our first 100 interested collectors, we made these sets which include an Online Hallowe'en Artists' Studio Tour bookmark, a Bat Conservation International circular sticker and a postcard featuring a number of my critters, all tied together with cool sparkling blue yarn, the same color as our table covering. I think it will be a hit!
