Cambridge Maple Leaf Doll Club Show report

What a pretty room!  The Armenian Community Centre in Cambridge was the site of the 30th Maple Leaf Doll Club Show and I was very pleased to be an exhibitor.  It was a cloudy day with threatening rain, which is just perfect for a show in September and attendance seemed high. 

 

We were at the back of the room and enjoyed a lot of positive compliments on my work and artistry but only 1 wee sale.  Sadly, there were very few artists exhibiting and only one other bear artist.  I did however pick up a gorgeous Hansa newborn fawn from Catherine Griffin who's importing Hansa and a stunning doll's wig in long rivers of black AND red hair, perfect for a witch, from Jennine Kafka! 

 

Another skull for the dead and September news

So last weekend I tried to work on the bat and just couldn't, it just wasn't happening... so frustrating.  But instead of wasting the afternoon I shifted gears, putting the bat away and did a bit of quilling.  So here is the 2nd Day of the Dead skull, the smaller one on the left.  It's not yet glued but as you can see it's quite colorful and again I found myself leaning towards an organic, natural theme. 

 

However, I'm going to have to get sewing!!  I've been accepted to take part in the Maple Leaf Doll Club Show this September 15th!

Oakville doll show!

What a great day!  Mom and I spent our Sunday taking part in the Greater Toronto Doll Show in Oakville, ON, and everything went really well!  Okay, I could have had a few more sales (or at least one juicy big one) but we had a really nice time seeing a lot of friendly and familiar faces and enjoying the energy in the room.

I took this mini film just before the doors opened, so you can get a sense of the room and the impressive quantity of things in it, with over 40 vendors sharing their treats!

 

Here's my table!  The backdrop gives us a bit of privacy and the folding wooden tables made the perfect risers for my girls!  Mom made fitted cork-board plates so that under 4 of the tables another critter could comfortably sit, thanks Mom!

 

 

And then the room filled!  The corridors were a bit narrow but all in all the show was excellently organized and very comfortable. 

We got a lot of sincere complements and oohs and ahhhs!  Over-hearing other vendors, it sounds like it was a good show for many!  Three of my mini hedgehogs found new homes, so that was nice (thank you Elizabeth, Nancy and Sharrie!), and I brought home 3 new wigs and brown eyelashes to make more ladies!  

In process...

I'm working on my calico catfish lady cat, here are her arms, and here is her head!  It took a while to get the face to look nice, the white gusset demanded that the brown chin line up PERFECTLY, so quite a bit of tweaking went on before it looked straight.

I'm excited to announce that I've been accepted to show at the Greater Toronto Doll Show in Oakville on April 28th, so I am busy sewing!  Hope you can make it there, it should be grand!
